Desert Bloom
Host David Tarrant's journey begins in one of the world’s most glamorous cities, Los Angeles, and takes him to the most fascinating of desert landscapes. From the home of the stars, palm trees and surfing, he heads southward and inland. Away from the big city, through the mountains and into the Anza Borrego Desert, his search begins. Outside the big city Tarrant discovers fields of California poppies covering hillsides as far as the eye can see. Then he winds his way into the desert where the savannah is bursting with color. With the help of the locals, Tarrant hopes to find the spring display offered sometimes only once in a decade--cacti, poppies for miles, copper leaf, desert trumpet, lavender, indigo and lily. The rains have come; will this be the year for the flowers?
