The manufacturer says the PEARL (Permanent Escape And Rescue Ladder) is a first-of-its-kind home safety device that is permanently installed into the wall space below upper-story windows, allowing homeowners to quickly and easily escape or be rescued in the event of a residential fire or other home emergency. The unit supports up to 1,500 lbs. and fits two and three-story applications. PEARL includes a paint-grade access door that blends with any decor and can be used by children or the elderly, the two groups PEARL says is most susceptible to injury or death in residential fires.
