Plant annuals that self-sow. The term annual is applied to garden flowers that complete their life cycle in one growing season. This means they come up in the spring, grow, flower, set seed and then die in the fall. Some annuals like cosmos and poppies self sow, which means you'll get new volunteers year after year. Planting annuals like these can bring color to a garden without breaking your budget. Be careful, though, not to choose invasive plants!
