House detective Steve Showwalter takes us to the eastern shore of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay and a riverside 1987, Ranch-style home retreat, where prospective buyers hope to spend their golden years.

Then, house detective Craig Moorhead takes us to the northern California town of Pleasanton to inspect a 31-year-old Ranch-style home. The town, for the most part, lives up to its name, but there is a problem here. Many of the homes were built on soil that shifts with seasonal weather changes, and that shifty soil could sink this deal.
