A Tennessee Garden Changes
Susan Felts' garden is set on Gum Tree Farm outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Over 20 years, the gardens have changed from an emphasis on growing perennials for dried flowers to a collection of interesting trees, shrubs and grasses. Felts has had to adapt over time, taking into consideration plant populations that have died out and her own energy level. Great sweeps of mixed borders surround the house; other cultivated areas include a vegetable garden, a surprise garden, giant topiaries and beds of conifers and grasses.
