Crepe Myrtle Walk
The homeowners have recently landscaped the front yard of their Tudor-style home; however, the backyard still needs to be done. Host Joe Washington interviews landscape architect Mary Palmer Dargan, who has created a plan that will continue the formal look of the house and front yard to the backyard. The plan includes replacing the driveway with a black-tinted, exposed-aggregate concrete mix and a Belgian-block cobblestone border. Four parking stalls in the back are separated by three-foot planting beds--each containing cherry trees and other foliage. Brick basket-weave paths, accented with bluestone and lined with crepe myrtle, meander through the yard, joining a series of gardens. Also installed are a perennial garden, a cedar potting shed and the new driveway.
