Just Gardening
Host Paul James takes us on a tour of his spring crops showing how chives, garlic, potatoes and greens have weathered recent crazy weather in his area. He shows how to make use of clumping, vase-shaped, umbrella-shaped, columnar and cone-shaped trees. He reveals what is wisdom of the ages and what is not. For example, Victorian gardeners threw several banana peels into planting holes, and they were a great source of fast-decomposing nutrients. Beer and milk were used at various times for fertilizer. Then he talks about listening to your plants--not literally--but paying attention and reading the signs of their health.
