Garden Views
Host Paul James discusses the ways different perspectives can change the way you view your yard and recommends designing with your priorities in mind. Later, he recommends deciduous shrubs for many of the same benefits as perennials. In segment three, he demonstrates how to control vines that get in the way and how to help vines that you want to encourage. Pulling, frequent pruning or non-chemical controls such as vinegar work well in controlling weedy vines. Vines usually take care of themselves, but they benefit from wire or trellises if you want to grow vertically. James is discovering new plants from Asia, and he shows off some of his favorites like Rodgersia. He recommends the correct planting conditions for keeping these plants healthy.
