Anatomy of a Floor
Today, one of the most common rooms to undergo renovations is the garage. This space is being converted into playrooms, offices and entertainment rooms more and more often. And, as in any room remodel, you need to begin planning from the floor up. The part of the floor most familiar is the finished floor. But the structural floor holds everything up and keeps out moisture and drafts.

A floor is composed of several layers that work together to provide a solid support. To create a floor, you have to construct a sub-floor onto which all flooring levels are built. To match the level of the adjacent rooms, Pat and Jodi build a new floor in a renovated garage.
