Aquariums in the Sky, Handicap Design Ideas
When architect Michael Beidler redesigned his Craftsmen-era home, he wanted a different look for the skylights he was adding in the bedroom. The answer came in two clear-bottomed aquariums mounted in his ceiling! Harvey and Pam Fein turned to designer Irma Dobkin, author of Design Without Barriers, to create a space that would be functional as well as stylish for Harvey's wheelchair--something that wouldn't have the institutional feel of many handicapped designs. Finally, meet Stanton and Renee Ades, who have created side-by-side offices as part of their master suite.
