Wallpaper Tips

Designer Joanne North suggests using vinegar and a hand saw to remove old wallpaper. Use the saw to "score" the old wallpaper. Mix one part vinegar with three parts water, dip large pieces of newspaper into the solution and press them up against the wall so that they stick. Wait about an hour, then remove the newspaper. The wallpaper should peel off easily.

You can also use a wallpaper scoring tool (see photo), which is available at any paint or hardware store or home center. Scoring the paper makes it easy for removal liquids to penetrate down to the adhesive.
