The final look is especially nice in a small area like a backsplash in a kitchen or bathroom.

Materials:

wrapping paper*
paintbrush
white glue or wallpaper paste
varnish (optional)

*The best papers for this project are those with circular patterns or designs that can be cut into both squares and rectangles without losing the picture.

Steps:
  1. Cut the wrapping paper into random shapes.
  2. Thin the white glue to the consistency of heavy cream or use wallpaper paste. Apply paste to the back of the wrapping paper with a paintbrush.
  3. Overlap the pieces of wrapping paper on the desired area of the wall.
  4. Brush the glue mixture over the top of the paper to smooth and seal the wallpaper pieces. Tip: Don't worry about smoothing out every single wrinkle. They add texture.
  5. To increase the durability, add a few coats of varnish.
