Faux Aquarium

Materials:

double-primed canvas
acrylic paints (Medium Blue, Ultramarine, Deep Beige, White , Milk Chocolate, Ivory)
Radiant Rub Ons (Coral Reef)
craft stick
foam brushes
1" wide flat artist brush
painter's tape
plastic plates
straightedge
pencil
scissors

Steps:

1. Cut the canvas to 14" x 16" and tape-off a one-inch border around the edges .

2. Pour some Ultramarine, Medium Blue and White onto a plate. Blend all three colors slightly on the one-inch brush and add a wavy line about two inches below the top piece of tape. Paint the rest by randomly blending the colors to simulate water. Let dry and remove tape.

3. Tape around the water for protection so the plain border is exposed. Pour some Deep Beige, Milk Chocolate and Ivory onto a plate and blend the colors to simulate a wood frame. Let dry.

4. Cut the coral reef rub ons apart and place designs where desired. Rub a craft stick over each to adhere them to the canvas as you remove the clear backing.

5. Use the handle of a paintbrush and white paint to make air bubbles. Let dry .

Lighthouse Wall Niche

Materials:

double-primed canvas
stencil (Lighthouse and Terns Kit #D-601)
spill-proof paints (#47 Periwinkle Blue, #60 Leaf Green, #24 Navy, #35
Mexican Sand, #17 White , #11 Bright Red)
stencil brushes
acrylic paints (Medium Blue, Ultramarine, Deep Beige, White, Milk Chocolate, Ivory, Light Gray)
foam brushes
1" wide flat artist brush
painter's tape
plastic plates
straightedge
pencil
scissors

Steps:

1. Cut the canvas to the desired size (about 22' x 29" is featured). Measure and use a pencil to mark an arched niche 18" x 25". Measure in about two inches and mark a 2-1/2-inch border all the way around. Draw a line connecting the lower outer corners with the inner border corners (figure A).

2. Pour some Deep Beige, White, Milk Chocolate and Ivory onto a plate. Blend the colors together with a foam brush to paint the border for a shadow effect as if recessed in the wall.

3. Paint sky area Medium Blue and swirl clouds on with a stencil brush by combining Medium Blue, Light Gray and White. Let dry.

4. Follow stenciling instructions for Lighthouse and Terns. Let dry.

5. Paint grass area of stencil four inches above inside niche area. Let dry.

6. Paint water by blending Ultramarine, Medium Blue and White. Let dry.

Porthole Mural

Materials:

trompe l' oeil Wall Decor murals (#8100 Angel Fish and #8105 Jumping Dolphin)

Steps:

1. Apply prepasted murals as directed for an instant seascape.
