Create architectural interest with decorative moldings and fabric, paint or wallpaper.
Materials:

decorative molding
miter box and saw
finishing nails
paint, fabric or wallpaper
liquid fabric starch

Steps:

  1. Determine size and shape of desired design, and then cut the molding as needed .
  2. Cut fabric or wallpaper to the size of the molding opening. Wet wallpaper and fold it on itself (booking) to set up.
  3. Saturate fabric with starch and apply it to the wall, being careful not to stretch it so the shape isn't distorted. Or, hang the wallpaper and smooth out any bubbles. Or, paint the shape directly onto the wall.
  4. Paint the molding as desired and let dry. Nail the molding in place around the design.

Note:

If using starch, pull the fabric off when ready to move or change the style. Wash the wall and go.
