Paint a huge baseball bat hitting a ball to the other side of the room.
Baseball Bat

Materials:

satin latex paint for bat (Carob Brown #1322, Cellini Gold #1363, Black Tie #SW1007 )
baseball bat
level
pencil
painter's tape
graining tool
small roller
dark glaze
paint marker

Steps:

  1. Use a level to create a guideline for a straight bat. While looking at a real bat, pencil a skinny handle and the wide end of the bat. Tape around it and paint it Carob Brown.
  2. Once dry, roll Cellini Gold on half the brown color and pull the graining tool in a rocking motion through the color to create knots and straight grain. Practice before going to the wall.
  3. For dimension, rub a dark glaze along the edges of the bat.
  4. Remove the tape and outline the edges with a marker and black paint.Add "wind effects" with black paint.

This huge mitt will look like it's holding the baseball portion of the bed once it's in place. Use a real glove for direction.
Baseball Mitt

Materials:

satin latex paint for glove (Carob Brown #SW1322)
dark brown glaze
baseball glove
paintbrushes
pencil
wide paint marker

Steps:

  1. Take a look at a real glove and you'll discover that the shape is sort of a flat top circle. Draw the shape and paint it with a tan base coat. Let dry.
  2. Texture the mitt with a darker glaze by pouncing it on with a blunt end brush.
  3. Once dry, pencil in the finger lines, lacings and the pocket. Make the lines visible with a wide paint marker. Don't worry that the lacings are outside the painted mitt shape--that's part of the charm of the hand-painted design.
  4. Add a little bit of the glaze for highlights.
