Materials:
thin brick veneer
metal wall grid
heavy-duty metal shears
brick adhesive (mastic)
drill
drywall screws
hacksaw
mortar
mortar piping bag
trowel
slicker
latex paint
paintbrush
stiff bristle brush
Steps:
- Measure wall length and height where the brick will be placed. Use metal shears to cut wall grid to size. Place bricks in the grid until satisfied with the layout. Cut some with a hacksaw for various sizes. Remove bricks from the grid and re-create design on floor. Follow manufacturer's instructions to adhere bricks to the wall with mastic and let dry overnight.
- Fill spaces between bricks with mortar in piping bag. is. Remove excess mortar and air bubbles with a trowel. Press mortar into place with slicker (figure A) and let dry overnight.
- Brush excess mortar off and vacuum thoroughly.
- If desired, apply at least two coats of paint to cover bricks and mortar.
