Windows must be properly caulked for a clean, finished look.
Trim work in new homes is sometimes not finished properly. Check to see that:
  • windows are correctly caulked. If the gap needing caulking is wide, apply caulk in a series of little coats to avoid cracking.
  • mitered wood joints have been properly sanded. If not, they will have little feathers. Sand with 220 grit sand paper and paint. Latex paint can go over oil paint , or oil paint can go over latex paint, but in either case, the surface must first be lightly sanded.
