Highlighting Textured Walls Materials:
off-white satin latex base coat (#SW1095)
glaze (Ralph Lauren Tea Stained AG02 )
rags
paintbrush
roller
painter's tape
Steps:
1. Paint the wall in the off-white satin latex paint and let dry.
2. Dip a soft cloth into the glaze and rub it over the surface in a circular motion . Push the cloth tightly in against the tape to get into the corners and along the edge, and then rub along it. Continue the swirl motions to make the cut-in line disappear .
Cleaning Woodwork
Materials:
dishwashing soap
bucket
rags
paintbrush
touch-up markers
liquid scratch cover
Steps:
1. Mix soap and lukewarm water in a bucket. Use a damp, soft cloth to remove as much dust and dirt as possible being careful not to soak the wood. For very detailed areas of molding, dip an old paintbrush into the solution and wipe it off on a rag to remove excess water. Brush the moldings to get into the nooks and crannies.
2. Follow with a damp rag to remove any soap residue.
3. Once dry, use touch-up markers to fill in areas that have chipped. Run the marker over the chipped area and keep adding small coats until the bare wood blends in.
4. After all of the wood has been cleaned, apply a layer of liquid scratch cover to add luster and take care of light surface scratches and dings.
Wood Floors
In order to keep wood floors looking good, be sure to clean them regularly. Remember , dirt is sandpaper without the paper! Vacuum up the dust and dirt, and then damp mop. Apply a coat of wax for protection.
