Finding a new use for an old object is one of the basic principles of country design. That's the idea behind "pane-less" decorating. Mary Emmerling shares tips for incorporating salvaged windows into the decor of your home.
  • Refit an old frame with mirrored panes.
  • Secure two large windows with screws and use as a room divider (figure A).
  • Add salvaged shutters and small drawers to an old window frame to create a unique jewelry organizer (figure B).
  • Attach chicken wire to an old frame and display family photos and mementos with clothespins (figure C).
