Toolbox: Flashlights

Help Around the House : Episode ARH-149 -- More Projects »
It's not exactly a tool, but no toolbox is complete without at least one flashlight. They're great for working in dark spaces or closets, and they're important to have around in case of power outages. These are a few of my favorites:

If you want to free your hands, just get a clip-on with a swiveling head. If you want to really crawl around and have your hands free while your working, use a headlight. It also incorporates a nice foam back so that your noggin doesn't get bruised. Also, if you need to light a table at 90 degrees, there's a ratcheting head with a nice solid base and you can adjust the beam by just turning it to the left or right.

One of my all time favorites is the big boy. It's good for spotting things that go bump in the night.
