Toe nailing is a carpentry term for joining two pieces of wood at an angle by driving in nails. It's easier said then done, but try these tips to make the job go easier.

Start with a pilot hole first, drilling straight into the wood then gradually increasing the angle until you end up with about a hole that runs straight through the piece at about a 60-degree angle (figure A). Now the nail has a clear path and has less of a chance of going off in the wrong direction (figure B).
