For general caulking around the home, Henry recommends a plunger type-caulking gun (see photo). This type of gun features smooth operation and a quick-release feature that allows easy adjustment of the amount of pressure exerted on the tube of caulk.

Also, cut the tip at the end of the tube at such an angle that it matches the size of the opening that you need to fill. A very sharp utility knife will make short work of cutting an opening.

To get started, place the nozzle or tip right in the corner and with one smooth easy motion go all the way down, non-stop if you can. Keep on rolling and once you get to the end just relieve the pressure and remember to always have a cloth handy for clean up.
