James Parker, a descendant of Mexican-American War hero Lt. James Parker, built three Victorian turret houses on the 800 block of Mellon Street. He purchased the land for the homes from the wife of Mellon Bank founder Thomas Mellow. Parker's expertise as a woodcrafter found elegant expression in the highly detailed facades of the houses.
