Kayenta

What does it take to build a community of new homes without compromising the natural landscape? One developer calls it Kayenta. Kayenta is a community of homes that sits up against red mesa, laced with slot canyons. The developer has placed some very stringent requirements on the builders to prevent it from looking or becoming like so many other common developments.

Houses here, which range in the million plus category, must meet height limitations and use colors selected from earth-tone palettes. All house lighting is directed downward so not to interrupt the luminescence of the night sky. There are no fences , natural landscaping is required and lawns, water features and pools are screened from view to preserve the desert feel of the region.
