Figure A--This home reflects a lot of personality and color, but it wasn't easy getting to this point. The customized aspects of the Dixon home were brought on by two factors--the illness of the original contractor and the fact that Dixon's husband is an architectural buff and loves rooting around architectural "leftovers" and buildings that are being torn down.
Figure B--This antique column is accommodated by a hollowed-out area of the staircase. It was originally used to hold up a pulpit in an old church in Maine. This is the focal point of the entire living area.
Figure C--This carousel horse was handcarved in Paris, France. It is not an old piece, but is a well-done piece. Note the carvings and features, especially the fact that it is stained, rather than painted.
