The rough texture of adobe and plaster walls contrasts with soft archways, giving the house a handcrafted quality.

A green and inviting back yard was 10 years in the making--but worth the effort.

Katharine Kagel is owner and executive chef of Santa Fe's popular Cafe Pasqual's, located in the heart of the downtown area. Her home is just a few blocks away. After visiting Santa Fe in the 1960s, Kagel was so impressed with "The City Different" that she vowed to return. It took ten full years, but by the late 1970s, Kagel was calling New Mexico home.

Her pueblo-style house is characteristically Santa Fe, from its adobe exterior to its southwestern interior--vigas (beams) and bancos (plaster benches)--included. Kagel describes her interior style as handmade. From paintings to furniture, Kagel has approached decorating just like she does cooking--only the finest ingredients. Our compliments to the chef!
