Hawaiian native Keiko Agena began her acting career at age 10 on the theater stage in Honolulu. She trained further at the Mid-Pacific Institute School of the Arts, mostly because she wasn't athletic enough to excel at sports. She decided to keep acting as long as it was fun and moved to Los Angeles. More than a decade later she's still having fun acting.
Recently she has played the character of Lane Kim, Rory Gilmore's brainy and somewhat eccentric best friend, on the WB hit TV show Gilmore Girls. The role brought Agena the Ammy Award, which honors Asians and Asian-American achievement in film and television, for Best Female Actor in a television production.
Agena upcoming plans include roles in the movie Beauty Shop. Her other television appearances include a recurring role on the WB series "Felicity" as well as guest roles on Beverly Hills 90210, ER, Sister, Sister and Renegade. Additionally, she appeared in the made-for-TV movie Terror in the Shadows, as well as the independent feature Hundred Percent.
When not working on her career, Agena enjoys playing the drums, renovating her home, yoga, computer games and watching sitcom reruns.
