Fort Snelling
Built in 1819 by Colonel Snelling and the 5th Regiment, Fort Snelling sits at the junction of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. A different-shaped tower stands at each corner of the diamond-shaped fort, which was the hub of the upper Mississippi for 30 years. Today, it's open to the public.
