Affordable Housing

Dream Builders : Episode DRB-810 -- More Projects »
Back in the early 1990's Professor Avi Friedman, director of the McGill University 's Affordable Housing Program, and others designed a pair of unique, affordable housing prototypes that offered modularity with smart design.

Dubbed the "Grow Home" and "Next Home," these campus experiments have since gone on to achieve real-world market success never dreamed of by the original designers. There are now about 10,000 "Grow " and "Next" homes across Canada, and some are sprouting up in places as far away as China and the Czech Republic.
