Plums and purples are great colors to use in offices or hobby spaces to encourage creativity.
Materials:

painter's tape
suede paint: RL2150X custom tint
024896 (colorant)
E1370 (Thalo Blue)
F0240 (Red Oxide)
KX2150 (White)
V2140 (Magenta)
B030 (Lamp Black)
#2174 (base used)
paintbrushes
primer (tinted with Mixed Berries SW1559)
roller/paint tray
4" latex brush
rags
metallic gold craft paint
relief wallpaper border (Super Fresco by Graham & Brown #734565930778)
wallpaper paste
featured ceiling paint (flat Khaki Shade SW1127)

Steps:

1. Tint primer so it's close to the suede paint color and apply it as the base coat. Let dry.

2. Load a brush and cut-in around the ceiling and wall edges in a 2' x 2' area. Roll in the square in a zigzag fashion, filling it in as best as possible. Move down to the next two-foot square area and do the same thing until the vertical strip of wall is filled in. Move over and continue in this fashion until the entire wall is covered. Let dry (expect to see some of the base coat paint showing through).

3. Load a four-inch brush and crosshatch over the wall, starting in an upper corner as above (top to bottom, left to right). This action gives some areas a darker color and makes others seem lighter, just like suede.

4. Rub gold craft paint over the textured border with a rag and remove excess so the recesses are accented. Let dry and cut out the design as desired. Lightly sand the suede finish where necessary and attach the border according to the directions (figure A).
