Rubber brushes and glaze can be used to make interesting designs on walls or furniture.
Materials:

color shaper rubber brushes (available from home and paint supply stores)
plastic containers
water-based varnish
acrylic glazing liquid medium
craft knife
soft bristle brushes
semi-gloss latex paint (light blue or turquoise)
acrylic paint (yellow, soft blue)
rags or paper towels

Steps:

1. Apply a base coat of semi-gloss paint to wall surface and let dry. Seal with two coats of varnish and let dry.

2. Mix three parts glazing liquid with one part yellow paint. Mix well and apply mixture evenly over entire surface with bristle brush.

3. While wet, use the flat color shaper to make diagonal stripes. Wipe excess from tool after each stripe. Make diagonal stripes in the opposite direction to create the look of lattice. Allow glaze to dry and apply one coat of varnish. Let dry.

4. Mix three parts glaze with one part soft blue acrylic paint. Use brush to apply glaze over entire wall.

5. Notch the end of another flat color shaper with a craft knife and repeat the lattice pattern as above.
