Materials:
WallMagic dual paint roller
satin latex paint (white base coat, Rouge Red #SW1301, Gold Gleam #SW1665 and Soft Sand #SW1079)
paintbrushes
Steps:
- Apply a base coat if necessary and let dry.
- Put roller in paint tray and fill one side with Rouge Red and one with Gold Gleam. Apply the colors in a crosshatch and swirl pattern to achieve a random look (practice on scrap drywall or cardboard before moving to the wall).
- For the second coat, put the third color (Soft Sand) in both sides of the tray with clean roller covers and start making slight diagonal designs--using more pressure on the top than the bottom--to give the walls a shaded look (figure A). Use brushes to blend the diagonal strokes together with a pouncing action, keeping some areas lighter than others so the first initial colors can be seen.
- Once all three colors are done, step back and survey the walls to make sure the color seems even around the room. Make any necessary adjustments.
