Caulk Wall Design

Room by Room : Episode RXR-1113 -- More Projects »
Materials:

latex primer
tub and tile caulk
satin latex paint for top coat

Tips :

  • Caulk works better if it is a little cool.
  • Press down any caulk strands after 30 minutes.

Steps:

1. Prime walls and let dry. To create the diamonds, lightly pencil in a grid of nine-inch squares, and then draw diagonal lines to connect the corners.

2. To locate the spots to start and stop with the caulk lines and where to place the four dots, cut out a two-inch square piece of cardboard. Hold it up where the lines intersect and make marks for the lines and the dots (figure A).

3. Add the textural design with caulk from a squeeze tube by following the lines , stopping short of the centers, and then adding the four dots that make up the center design. Wait 24 hours to allow the caulk to set up.

4. Apply top coat as normal by cutting in with a brush and rolling the rest(figure B).
