Use ordinary crackle medium to make a new wall look old.
Decorative painter Gary Lord transforms a new wall into one that looks centuries old with new crackle finishing products.

Materials:

Aquasize
Aquabond off white
Aquacrackle
Aquacreme
Aquacolor green and dark brown
9" roller handle
3/4" nap lambskin sleeve
3" chip brush
paint tray
squirrel mixer 1/2" electric drill
plastic
stir stick
rags

Steps:
  1. Base coat surface with Aquabond. Off white was used for the program but any color latex enamel is also suitable for this treatment.
  2. Apply Aquasize with a roller or brush for 100 percent even coverage of the area you want to crack. Wait 30 minutes to one hour for size to "tack up."
  3. Mix Aquacrackle white with 10 to 20 percent water using an electric drill and squirrel mixer. Apply crackle with a brush or a 1/2" to 3/4" lambskin sleeve and leave as is or pat off with plastic for a more even look. Do not overwork any area. Let dry completely.
  4. Tint Aquacreme with 60 percent Aquacolor green and dark brown. Mix thoroughly. Apply Aquacreme glaze to white crackle and rub off for a crackle finish with a beautiful patina.
