Bring the Old World look into your home with this aged fresco wall finish technique.
Decorative painter Gary Lord creates an aged fresco wall finish that can be replicated in any room of your home.

Materials:

AquaBond, off white*
Custom Imprint
Imprint Coat
foam roller
blue tape
burnishing tool
wooden stir stick
AquaSeal
AquaCream
AquaColor

*It is important to use AquaBond or Faux Effects base coats as a substrate. Off white or neutral white works best for producing Custom Imprints. Working over latex paint can affect the ability to transfer the Custom Imprint and is not recommended. A dark color base coat is not desirable because the Custom Imprints are translucent and therefore less visible when embedded into dark colors.

Steps:
  1. Prepare project with AquaBond or Faux Effects as directed on package. Dry thoroughly.
  2. With a sponge brush, apply a wet coat of Imprint Coat material to the area where the Custom Imprint will be placed. Brush vertically, horizontally and diagonally to be sure no area is missed. Allow this clear material to dry for at least one hour or until tacky. The longer, the better.
  3. Cut excess paper material around the Custom Imprint to be transferred, leaving about 1/4 inch of blank around of the Imprint.
  4. Place quick release tape on the top edge of the Imprint before placing the Custom Imprint face down upon the Imprint Coat. Apply Imprint where desired and smooth from the top down with cheesecloth to remove any air bubbles and prevent any wrinkling of Imprint. Be sure to lightly rub down all edges. Secure the Imprint firmly in place at the bottom and sides with more tape. Pressing firmly, rub the backside of the Imprint with the blunt end of a paint stick until all the securely in place.
  5. When you have completed your application of Imprints, apply a coat of clear AquaSeal or Clear Setcoat to seal in and neutralize the Imprint Coat material. (The Imprint Coat will still be effective as long as it is tacky.)
  6. The Custom Imprint is now ready for Aqua Finishing Solutions or Faux Effects materials to glaze, antique or otherwise complete the work project.

Note: Original Art Images Custom Imprints are fragile. Please keep the protective cover sheet in place until you are ready to apply them.
