Spraying Shutters

Room by Room : Episode RXR-1008 -- More Projects »
Matt Fox explains that a cup sprayer is a much faster--and saner--method of painting shutters. He suggests the following tips:
  • Practice on a piece of cardboard first to decide the level of coverage.
  • Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and spray from about 12 inches away.
  • Turn the machine on before the shutter and off after swiping it for even application.
  • Overlap coats about 30 percent.
  • Clean the sprayer as soon as you're finished so that it doesn't dry and clog the spout.
