Carol gets a visit from Handcraft Illustrated magazine editor Carol Endler Sterbenz, who shows how to produce attractive decorations out of gauche plastic fruit.

Materials:

plastic pear
white spray paint
coat hanger or dowel
adhesive/sizing
gold leaf

Steps:
  1. Remove the stem from the pear and insert a dowel (stick, coat hanger) in the hole to make the pear easier to maneuver while decorating it.
  2. Cover the pear with the spray paint to mask its original color.
  3. Apply colored sizing to the pear as an adhesive.
  4. Apply gold leaf to the pear.
