Mailbox Cover

Materials:

Deka Acrylic Sign Enamel Paints (for indoor and outdoor use) in desired colors
canvas mailbox cover or other accessories from BagWorks
brushes - assorted flats and rounds from Loew Cornell
paper and pencil for pattern
graphite paper or other transfer paper
masking tape - to hold pattern in place while transferring sponges or stencils may be used if desired

1. Decide on design and draw a pattern that will fit on the mailbox cover or other project.
2. Iron mailbox cover to eliminate any folds.
3. Place transfer paper face down over mailbox cover. Tape pattern into position over transfer paper (figure A).
4. Trace design onto canvas.
5. Stir paint well before beginning. Paint design onto fabric, avoiding a heavy build-up of paint (figure B).
6. For best results, allow paint to cure for a day or two before using the finished piece.
7. Tie cover onto mailbox with the attached ties.

• Coloring books and seed catalogs are good sources of design inspiration for outdoor projects.
• The Acrylic Sign Enamel is a durable and fade resistant indoor/outdoor paint which allows you to paint color next to color without the worry of colors bleeding together.
• For best results, avoid a thick build-up of paint.
