Starburst Ceiling Medallion Materials:
paint (dark and light metallic gold, off-white in pearl finish)
string
pencil
Steps:
1. Paint the ceiling with one coat of off-white. Once dry, mark where the ceiling fixture goes if necessary, and draw the design. Make circles by tying a string to a pencil, and then hold the end of the string in the middle. The starburst is a series of straight lines bisecting each other with points added (figures A and B).
2. Paint the entire design with dark and light metallic gold. Add some shading with the dark gold for more depth (figure C).
3. Soften the design with two layers of the pearl finish paint.
Painting Technique: Marble
Materials:
paint (off-white in pearl finish and deep green metallic)
terry cloth towel
feather
Steps:
1. Paint wall in desired base coat (Olive Drab #SW1166 was already painted on these walls-color has been discontinued). Wet the towel and wring it out. Dip an edge of it into the off-white paint , dab it off, and then lightly press the terry cloth to the wall in diagonal patches .
2. Dip the feather edge into the same color and softly roll it along, creating fine-lined veins.
3. Repeat the same steps with the green paint--sometimes overlapping the pearl and sometimes using it in an area of its own (figure D). Step back often to see the overall effect.
