Cinch the ends and corners with a rubber band, and then tuck the loose fabric up and under to fashion a quick slipcover.
Matt Fox offers these tips to make painting a ceiling divided into boxes easier :
  • Remove all the furniture possible. Group the remaining pieces together and cover it with plastic drop cloths held in place with painter's tape. Canvas drop cloths can be big and bulky and are better suited for use on the floor.
  • Cut-in the box before rolling on the paint. Avoid cutting-in all the boxes and then rolling over each one--it's best to completely paint one box at a time. If you cut in too far ahead, the area will dry before getting back to it with the roller , which will cause a darker band of color around the outside called hat banding.
  • To make the job go faster and easier, use an extension pole when painting a ceiling . This avoids repeated trips up and down a ladder, which is time consuming and can cause neck pain.
