Create impressive antiqued metal treatments on any home accessory with various paint techniques.
Rust Finish

Materials:

rust-colored primer paint
water in spray bottle
spray paint (black, orange and yellow)
rags
polyurethane

Steps:

1. Paint entire surface of chosen item with primer (this will adhere to metals and plastics).

2. Lightly mist the surface with black spray paint. Cover mistakes with more primer . Let dry.

3. Spray the surface with water to create a resist. Lightly mist the item using orange and then yellow paint. If necessary, blot some of the paint with a rag. Let dry.

4. Use polyurethane to protect the finish if desired.

Pewter Treatment

Materials:

white primer
spray paint (Platinum and Walnut wood tone)
rags
polyurethane

Steps:

1. Prime the surface and let dry.

2. Paint surface lightly with silver color and let dry. Apply a second coat if necessary. Let dry.

3. Lightly spray with wood-tone and immediately wipe it so it goes into the crevices . Repeat as necessary until a pewter look is achieved.

4. Use polyurethane to protect the finish if desired.
