Select pillowcases or other linens to decorate, keeping in mind that 100 percent cotton usually produces the best results with fabric inks and paints.

Using a disappearing-ink pen, sketch or trace your design onto the linen. Place a piece of brown paper between the layers of linens prior to painting. To decorate, use metallic pens, rubber stamps or sponge brushes, and fabric paints or inks.

Check your local art supply store or craft retailer for fabric inks and paints.
