Materials:
stain glass pattern
charcoal pencil
square or pointed paintbrush
liner brush
artist acrylic paints: white, black, yellow, green, blue, magenta ( colors vary depending on project, but try to choose bright hues)
artists clear acrylic medium
Steps:
- Pick a suitable pattern and have it enlarged at a copy center.
- Shade the back side of the copy with the charcoal pencil.
- Place the copy, shaded side down, on the object to be painted.
- Trace the black outlining with a pencil.
- Paint the spaces between the traced lines with white acrylic paint and allow to dry.
- To create a more transparent look with the paints, make a mixture of clear acrylic medium and acrylic paint. Mix these in a 1:1 ratio.
- Using a square or pointed brush, paint inside the traced images. While still wet , apply a second coat of another color to create a vibrant look. To achieve the look of Victorian or Tiffany glass, allow the brush strokes to show through.
- Use a liner brush to apply the black outlining.
