With back yards getting smaller, companies that manufacture swimming pools find their business falling off. The solution they've come up with, according to Realtor Magazine, is to make the pool an extension of the house, like an additional room.

"That means they're smaller and shaped to fit the contours of the house and they may come with a roofed area to protect upscale appliances so the owners can cook dinner and watch TV as part of their pool experience," the magazine said.
