Steps:

1. Use a rotary tool to cut through the bracket (figure A). Wear safety glasses, leather gloves and a dust mask while operating the rotary tool.

2. If the tile's in good shape, then most of the job's over. However, if the tile is broken it will require replacement.

3. Attach a chisel bit to the rotary tool and go around the grout line of the damaged tile or tiles. Now use a chisel and small sledgehammer to chisel out the broken tile (figure B).

4. Put the blade bit back on the rotary tool and cut away the rest of the bracket (figure C). Scrape away old grout with chisel to clean up the area.

5. Take the notched putty knife and spread an even layer of combination grout and adhesive in the space (figure D).

6. Fit the replacement tile into place, and twist while pressing on it until it's in position. Run your finger along the seams to spread an even amount of the adhesive grout in the seams (figure E).

7. Use a damp sponge to remove excess grout without disturbing grout in the seam. Wipe the area with a clean dry cloth and let it dry for at least 24 hours.
