The turntable on a lazy Susan allows for quick and easy access to kitchen items.
Handywoman Adair Thies shares tips on kitchen cabinets.

  • New cabinet doors come with an adjustable hinge. To adjust them, simply adjust the hinge with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

  • To make your own lazy Susan for a cupboard, hot glue the bottom of either a pizza pan, a cake pan, or a wicker paper-plate holder to a ball-bearing turntable. These are available for purchase at most hardware stores.

  • Keep kitchen cabinets organized with a rack for baking sheets.

  1. Equally space drill holes (figure A) in the cutting board about a 16th of an inch smaller than the width of the dowel. Shave off a bit on one end of the dowels.

  2. Fill the holes with a small amount of wood glue and pound the dowels lightly into the holes (figure B).

  3. Place your baking sheets and other pans between the rows of dowels.
