Steps:

  1. Shut off the water below the sink or outside at water meter.
  2. Put a drain stop or paper towel over the drain so you don't lose any parts down the pipes.
  3. Pop the cap off the faucet handle with a flat-head screwdriver (figure A).
  4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the screws in the faucet handle (figure B) and remove it.
  5. With an adjustable wrench, loosen the nut that holds the faucet assembly (figure C) and remove it. Take the entire assembly with you to the hardware store and buy a replacement (figure D).
  6. Back at home, remove the little copper valve seat using a seat wrench (figure E). The squares on the seat wrench will go down into the seat and the right size will catch. Twist it counterclockwise and the seat will come out.
  7. Install the new faucet assembly by hand and tighten using an adjustable wrench and install the new valve seat (figure F) using a seat wrench.
  8. Screw the handle back on and replace the cap.
  9. Turn the water back on underneath sink and check for leaks by turning the water on and off.
  10. Now pat yourself on the back because you did it!
