* The Aquabond is a 100-percent acrylic base paint that bonds to everything including laminate, tile, glass, ceramic, plaster, cement, oil and latex paints.
Steps:
- Clean the laminated surface of any dirt, wax, grease, etc.
- Sand the entire surface with 220-grit sandpaper.
- Wipe the surface with a tack cloth to remove any dust.
- Use a brush, roller or sprayer to apply Aquabond over the laminate as a primer coat.
- After the first primer coat is dry, apply another coat of Aquabond for the base coat.
- Apply the imprint coat to the area where the image will be placed.
- Allow 15 minutes for the imprint coat to become tacky. The coat will stay tacky for weeks.
- Put the desired custom imprint face down on the tacky imprint coat. There are 200 stock images to choose from.
- Tape the image in place with a piece of blue long-life tape.
- Transfer the image by rubbing it with a burnishing stick. Firmly rub the image first north, south, east then west.
- Peel up one corner to see if the image has transferred well. If it has not, burnish it more.
- Apply Aquaseal to the imprint coat to neutralize it and to make it ready to glaze over.
- Mix two to three parts Aquaglaze with one part latex base paint.
- Apply the glaze, and pat it off with a wad of cheesecloth or a cotton rag.
