Designer Bunny DeLorie turns a cabinet door into a fabulous fruit tray featuring intricate woodburned designs.
Materials:
unfinished cabinet door
one set of door handles
5-in-1 tool
fruit patterns from Bunny DeLorie- discontinued
transfer paper
Delta Glazing Medium
Delta Ceramcoat Paints: Eggplant, Luscious Lemon, Bittersweet Orange, Burnt Umber, Boston Fern, Leaf Green, White

Steps:
- On each side of the cabinet door find the center. Mark and drill holes for handles.
- Transfer fruit designs to tray using transfer paper and pencil.
- Attach dot point tip to 5-in-1 tool. Plug in and allow to heat up for about five minutes. Outline fruit design with dot point tip. Make faux worm holes by pushing dot point tip straight down into wood. Make as many as you wish for an antique look.
- Unplug tool, let cool, remove tip and attach shading tip. Again, allow the tool to heat up. Shade fruit and leaf design with tip.
- Pour small puddles of each color paint and glazing medium onto palette. Dip an artist brush into glazing medium and apply to fruit, a small area at a time. While glaze is wet, dip brush into paint color and brush onto area. The object of this technique is to keep the painted area as translucent as possible. If paint is too opaque, add more glaze and blend.
- When the tray is completely dry, use a clean cloth or foam brush to apply an even coat of satin varnish. Attach handles to the sides of the tray.
