3/4-inch birch plywood in the following sizes:

• two 78-3/4 by 15-3/4 inch for sides
  
• five 22-9/16 by 15-3/4 inch (three for interior shelving, one each for top and bottom)

• one 4 by 15-3/4 inch divider
  
• one 21-9/16 by 12-inch tray

Steps:

1. Take two 78-3/4 by 15-3/4 sides, and make pencil marks at 48-1/4 inches, 51-inches, and 55-3/4 inches from the top. Also, make a marking 20-3/4 inches from the bottom.

2. Attach drawer slides to the top of the 51-inch marking and the top of the 55-inch marking, flush with the exterior edge of each side.

3. Attach one interior shelf flush to the top of each side, and one interior shelf at the 51-inch mark using glue and pneumatic staples.

4. Attach one drawer slide on either side of the divider, flush with the front of the piece of wood.

5. Attach one divider at the halfway mark of the interior shelf (at the 51-inch mark) using glue and pneumatic staples.

6. Attach one interior shelf to the side and divider at the 55-3/4 inch mark using glue and pneumatic staples.

8. Flip the unit over and attach the backing with staples.

9. The two front trim pieces will have a rabbet cut for a nice, tight fit. Attach the two front trim pieces and two back trim pieces of the tower with glue and 1-3/8 inch brad nails. The pieces should be flush with the top shelf, leaving a 3-1/4 inch under-hang at the bottom for the legs (figure B).

10. The linen tower will have adjustable shelving, so grab a shelf-pin jig that’s set to drill 1/4-inch holes. Drill two columns of holes on both interior sides of the tower at the top compartment of the unit.

11. Nail the trim pieces along the exposed edges and on to the sides, continuing the trim on the middle shelves (figure C).

12. Attach drawer slides on to each of the 12" sides of the 21 9/16 x 12" piece of birch plywood, flush with the edges.

13. Attach a drawer pull to the 22-3/8 by 1-3/4 inch clear pine tray trim. Attach the trim piece to the 21-9/16 inch side of the tray (on the side where the drawer pulls are closest to the edge) using glue and 1/2-inch brad nails (figure D).

14. Miter the edges of the 10 by 3-3/4 inch back pine and one 3-inch side of each of the 12 by 3-inch side drawer pieces.

15. Attach drawer glides to one of each of the drawer sides. Make sure the wheels face the mitered edge of each side, and the glide is flush with the non-mitered side.

16. Secure the mitered edges of the sides and back together with glue and 1/2-inch brad nails. Staple the bottom of the drawer on to all three sides.

18. Assemble a rectangle from two horizontal frame pieces and two vertical frame pieces using half-lap joinery, glue and 1/2-inch brad nails. Router the inside edges of the frame using a router set to a 1/2-inch depth. Paint the doors.

19. Place one sheet of acrylic cut to 43-5/16 by 8-1/2 inches into the routed edges of the frame. Secure the acrylic inside the door frames with filler strips. Cut 3/4-inch clear pine scrap wood to 1/2 by 10-3/4 inches for the horizontal pieces, and 1/2 by 44-3/4 inches for the vertical pieces.

20. The acrylic is delicate, so attach the scrap trim to the wood using 3/4-inch wire brads and a brad pusher. Use a hammer to help push in the brads if necessary. Attach the doors to the unit with hinges (figure F).

21. Paint the linen tower desired color to finish off the unit.
